The design of the clubhouse’s sizeable sheltered gallery area facilitates panoramic views of the three courses, and in particular, the finishing holes
Only par three on this nine. Tee shot over water to a green that slopes from back to front - can be a tricky second shot for players who do not hit the green in regulation.
Short drivable par four for the brave. Water on right and out of bounds on left, best play here is to take a mid iron and leave a short approach.

Donabate's Gavin Moynihan was celebrating a place in the Faldo Series Europe Grand Final after emerging triumphant over Evan Farrell in a play-off to win the fourth Faldo Series Ireland Championship at Lough Erne Resort in County Fermanagh.
A hat-trick of birdies on holes 15 to 17 of the Faldo Course at Lough Erne sealed a level-par final round for Moynihan and a 36-hole total of 146 following his opening 74. The 16 year-old then took that momentum into a play-off with co-leader Farrell (72-74) and defeated his opponent from Ardee, also 16, with another birdie on the first extra hole. What most people did not realise was Gavin and his father Mick had snuck off to McDonalds between finishing his round and the playoff for chicken nuggets and chips, no doubt the secret to Gavin's success. Be careful Gavin Mac Moynihan could stick.
Having also edged Farrell out of the Boys' Under-18 title, Moynihan will return to Lough Erne, home of the Faldo Series Europe, for the 15th Grand Final on September 12-14. This is a World Amateur Golf Ranking Event.
Established in 1996, 35 Faldo Series tournaments now take place in 25 countries worldwide with over 5,000 golfers participating each year. Former winners include Lough Erne's touring professional Rory McIlroy, plus Nick Dougherty, Marc Warren, John Parry, Melissa Reid, Florentyna Parker and Yani Tseng, all winners on Tour.
Supported by The R&A, the European Tour and Lough Erne Resort, the 2011 Faldo Series Europe schedule features a record 18 tournaments in 11 different countries including seven in England plus others in Ireland, Scotland, Wales, the Czech Republic, Russia, Greece, The Netherlands, Brazil, Germany and Slovakia.
Leading final scores: Boys' Under-21: 148-Dan Murphy (76-72); 154-Cian Geraghty (81-73). Boys' Under-18: 146-Gavin Moynihan (74-72), Evan Farrell (72-74); 147-Alan Lowry (72-75); 148-James Hewitt (76-72). Boys' Under-16: 153-Niall Foley (76-77); 155-Jack Walsh (77-78).

Congratulations to all the team - Well Done
The sun was shining when the crowd moved from inside the Club House to stand on the balcony and to gather outside to welcome the 2011 Club Captains, Pat McNeill and Pauline Byrne. Past Captains, looking very impressive in their blazers, brought woods from their cars in anticipation of making the ceremonial arch to welcome the new Captains.
The chatty buzz was silenced with the sounding of a siren - everyone moved forward to catch sight of the 'prisoners' arriving in handcuffs and prison garb - the Captains had arrived!

Robert was handing out fruit punch at the back of the Club House as the crowd gather there to watch Pat and Pauline drive off. Both drove off in style and the 2011 golf season at Donabate had offically begun. The Club caters provided soup and sandwiches and the 'House Committee' were congratulated on their organisation of the event.

A very large crowd joined the Captains and their families and friends in the Club House for dinner and dancing..

Donabate Golf Club was named among 30 golf clubs newly accredited under the National Standards Framework for Golf Clubs at Fáilte Ireland Head Office, Amiens St last week. These new standards were developed in conjunction with the Golf Quality Assurance Group as part of the Golf Forums role in developing golf in Ireland. They follow the customer's journey through the booking process from their arrival at the course and reception and clubhouse facilities, all the way to golf standards and post game facilities to ensure that the customer can expect -
• High quality customer service from all staff, who can provide information on costs, tee-times, course disruptions and more from arrival through to departure
• The golf course is in good condition with good maintenance practices in place
• The clubhouse facilities and food and beverage services are of appropriate quality and condition
• That the club meets all health and safety standards and legal obligations
• Good signage and clean building on arrival with adequate car parking
• That adequate facilities are made available for mobility impaired guests
The first of their kind in Ireland, the standards offer golf clubs a number of distinct advantages including free listings on the domestic and international Discover Ireland websites and access to key Fáilte Ireland business supports.
Speaking at the awards ceremony, which was held in Fáilte Ireland Head Office, Amiens St, Dr. Tony Lenehan emphasised the importance of these new standards in the current climate -
"Following the success of the recent Irish Open and Ladies Irish Open the international profile for Irish golf is bigger than ever before. This, teamed with the visitor's ever increasing requirement for value and quality, makes these minimum standard guidelines a crucial element in ensuring the visitors expectations are not only met, but exceeded on every level.
I am delighted to see Donabate Golf Club accept their award today, bringing the grand total of approved golf clubs in Ireland up to 62, with more to come.
Fáilte Ireland's golf team is continuously promoting the value, choice and quality message to potential golf visitors and I am confident that this, along with the National Standards Framework, will give Ireland a clear advantage and help us stand out in a very competitive international environment."
